N: Tell me about writing Anything is Possible.
R: The book was born from my best friend years ago and a question you asked me over three years ago. You asked what I was doing to achieve my dreams and my answer made me mad. Since that day, I’ve been working to change my life – and the world.
N: The book is about believing Anything is Possible, what does that mean?
R: It means that no matter the challenge, no matter the obstacle and no matter the previous experience or results, we can do anything we dream so long as we’re dedicated to it and chase it in a smart way.
N: I’ve heard you speak before and you tell a story about talking down to yourself about your ability to paint a painting. Tell me about that.
R: Back in 2008 I was giving a speech and I used an image of the Bird of Paradise flower. An audience member suggested I should paint it. I laughed her off and said I couldn’t do it. On my drive home, I got really upset with myself because I had been telling the audience they could do anything if they wanted it bad enough and here I was, saying I couldn’t do something. From then on I’ve vowed to not talk down to myself.
N: How can you integrate the book’s message into your life?
R: Well, it’s a lot like your site here, Love in White. You’re passionate about photography and wish to change the world through your fashion. Once you know what you’re passionate about … there is nothing to stop you. Seriously, life is meant to be lived. Once you know you’re passionate about photography, running, sports, reading, science-fiction, fashion, philanthropy, politics, travel … whatever it is, make it a part of you.
N: What advice do you have for people?
R: Just be it. Live your passions every day of your life. I know it sounds simple, but it’s because it is. I am passionate about helping people change their lives. That is why I wrote the book. If I can help one person live a better more fulfilling life, then I have been successful.
